Job Summary
The Plant Head will lead the entire manufacturing facility, ensuring production efficiency, product quality, cost control, and safety compliance. This role oversees multiple departments and is responsible for strategic planning, operational excellence, and aligning plant operations with corporate goals.
Department-wise Responsibilities
1. Production / Manufacturing:
- Plan, organize, and control daily production schedules to meet targets.
- Optimize machine utilization, workflow, and manpower allocation.
- Monitor productivity metrics, yield, and efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Maintenance / Engineering:
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all equipment.
- Manage press shops, machine shops, automation lines, and plant utilities.
- Coordinate with vendors for spare parts, services, and upgrades.
- Implement TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices for minimal downtime.
3. Quality / Compliance:
- Ensure ISO / OEM / internal quality standards are met.
- Monitor inspection, testing, and defect reduction programs.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance.
4. Supply Chain / Materials Management:
- Manage procurement, inventory, and logistics.
- Ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Use ERP/SAP (PP, MM, QM) for real-time monitoring of supply chain and production.
- Negotiate with vendors for cost optimization and reliable supply.
5. Finance / Budgeting:
- Monitor plant budgets, operational costs, and capital expenditure.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and monitor KPIs.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for senior management.
6. Human Resources / Team Management:
- Lead cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality, and support staff.
- Ensure training, performance appraisals, and talent development.
- Drive employee engagement, safety awareness, and labor compliance.
7. Digital / Automation / IT Integration:
- Drive adoption of automation, Industry 4.0 technologies, and digital tools.
- Utilize ERP/SAP systems for production planning, inventory, and reporting.
- Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT) for documentation, reporting, and process optimization.
